I teach to the needs of my students, who are quite varied in experience and technical levels.  Instead of one singular approach, I work at each student's level to determine what tasks need to be done to help them achieve their goals.

Common work includes voicing, how to solo on chord changes, approaches to comping, sight reading, scales and modes in jazz, jazz repertoire, learning jazz vocabulary, and aspects of different types of guitar gear and how to get a good sound.  Many of the tools for playing jazz are addressed through learning real-world jazz repertoire.
